Who Is 2024 Masters Winner Scottie Scheffler's Wife, Meredith?

Scottie Scheffler‘s Golf Journey

Throughout Scottie Scheffler’s journey to golf stardom, his wife, Meredith Scudder, has been by his side. Here’s how these high-school sweethearts are building each other up.

Rising Star: Scheffler’s Early Career

Ahead of the 2022 Masters Tournament, which Scheffler won, the golf world was buzzing about the young star. The 2020 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year started a bit slowly perhaps, joining the amateur Walker Cup team in 2017. He tied for 19th place in the 2020 Masters, and tied for 18th in 2021. According to FanNation, those placements helped build his confidence. He hadn’t won a PGA Tour event at the start of the 2021-22 season, but he finished top 10 in three of them — tying for eighth place in both the PGA Championship and The Open Championship. He tied for seventh in that year’s U.S. Open.

Breakthrough Year: Scheffler’s Ascension

But Scheffler made a huge jump in 2022, winning three PGA Tour events in quick succession: the Waste Management Phoenix Open in February, the Arnold Palmer Invitational in early March, and the World Golf Championship Match Play, where he beat his 2021 opponent Billy Horschel. By 2024, Scheffler ranked No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking. “Right now, he is obviously the best player in the world.”

Scudder’s Support: The Backbone of Scheffler’s Success

Scudder has been by Scheffler’s side the whole time. She apparently came to his rescue when he was preparing for the Sentry Tournament of Champions one year, Golf Monthly noted. She bought him 10 clubs after his Nike 3-wood club from high school cracked.

High School Sweethearts: Scheffler and Scudder’s Love Story

Scheffler and Scudder married in December 2020, after dating for 6 years, according to Golf Monthly. They were high school sweethearts who began their relationship as students at Highland Park High School in Dallas, Texas. After both graduated in 2014, they attended different colleges. Scheffler went to the University of Texas at Austin; Scudder went to rival school Texas A&M University in College Station.

Enduring Love: Overcoming Distance and Challenges

Though they visited each other frequently, they really went long-distance when Scudder did a three-month internship in Zambia in 2016 with the Family Legacy nonprofit, according to her LinkedIn page. She also did an internship in Haiti in 2017, at Live Beyond, a disaster relief organization based in Brentwood, Tennessee. The distance seemingly only made their hearts grow fonder.

Life Beyond Golf: Scudder’s Achievements

Scheffler and Scudder both graduated from college in 2018; Scudder finished with a degree in communications and a minor in business. She worked as event planner in 2017 for Eatology Ltd, a health food fitness service based out of Hong Kong. She currently serves as vice president and event planning team leader for With Purpose: College Station, a cancer research nonprofit she co-founded with other Texas A&M students. Scudder has also, of course, been accompanying her husband to his golf events.

The Proposal and Wedding: Milestones in Scheffler and Scudder’s Journey

Scheffler proposed to Scudder in June 2020 while they were hiking at the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano, Texas. Scudder posted about the proposal on her now-deleted Instagram account, writing, The couple married on December 4, 2020, at the Park Cities Presbyterian Church in Dallas, according to John Cain Photography. They celebrated their reception among the twinkling lights decorating nearby Arlington Hall. By the looks of it, there were 12 bridesmaids and 15 groomsmen alongside them. The lights added some Christmas cheer, and the couple apparently had Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” on their reception playlist.

Growing Family: Anticipation of Parenthood

By the time Scheffler won his second Masters tournament in 2024, he and Scudder were expecting their first child. On the topic of Scudder missing future PGA events due to her pregnancy, Scheffler told Golfweek in April.
